Grapes for this wine were sourced from Victoria’s Yarra Valley, an area well-known for its premium cool climate wine styles. The region is particularly suited to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Region: Yarra Valley 100%
Composition: Chardonnay 100%
Vintage conditions:
The 2012-13 growing season began wet and cool but soon dried out to produce excellent growing conditions. Some late rain re-appeared but good viticulture allowed us to handle this with ease. Flavours developed well and the cooler conditions retained high natural acidity.
Winemaking:
Harvested in the cool of the night and transported to the winery for immediate processing. The first free-run juice was fermented in French oak barrels with the remaining portion fermented in tank to provide fruit brightness in the finished blend. No malo-lactic fermentation occurred. The two components were blended just prior to bottling in September 2015.
Analysis:

Tasting comments:
Light to medium straw in colour, still showing youthful green tinges. Lifted bouquet of citrus fruits and summer flowers with a smoky oak background. The palate is fresh and crisp with excellent balance. This harmony leads through to the finish which is smooth and long, without heaviness or excessive acidity.
